\e « Spe aia apy THURSDAY, MAY 13, 1920 _—— PLANS OUTLINED FOR PROGRAMOQN)| 0: § 22.ScHoots MEMORIAL DAY Represegtatives of Thirteen Or- ganizations Decide to Co- operate on May 30 | Elaborate plans for the observance of Memorial Day, May 30, were out- lined at a meeting last night which was attended by representatives of thirteen organizations of the city. The meeting, held in the Commer- cial club rooms, was called to order by Major Geo. L. Russ, commander of the American Legion. In the morning, on Memorial Day, a firing squad, buglers and flower bearers will visit both cemeteries and the river. The firing squad will fire three volleys, the bugler will blow “taps,” and the flower bearers will distribute flowers. A parade will be held-in the after- noon at 4:30 p. m.- Capt. E. G. Wan- ner, veteran of the Spanish.:American .War, has been named grand marshall of the parade. Other Spanish-Ameri- can war veterans will be his aids. Two Bands The first section of the parade will include veterans of the world war, the governor and members of the city commission. The Elks’ band will lead the section. The second section will be led -by a full Salvation Army band. followed by varioys fraternal ‘bodies. The parade will end at.the auditor- yium, where at 4:30 p. m. a Memorial Day pageant will be given. The page- ant is one prepared by the American Legion national headquarters. Large Chorus One of the features of the pageant is a large chorus, Mrs. A. C. Jacob- son, president of the Thursday Music club, will organize the chorus. The cast for the pageant has not been se- lected. - Representatives of the various fra- ternal organizations who were at the 1 tire states. C., May 13.—Manu- als of garden lessons adopted to the five climatic zones of the United ‘States have been published by, the bureau of education. -These manuals are sent free to teachers.
