The night school was started No- vember 3 and 4 at the high sehool and the Wachter school. From the begin- ning the spirit displayed by those enrolled was very gratifying to the school authorities and the amount of work the various classes have success- fully completed up to the present time has exceeded the expectancy of the school board. The work consists of the fundamentals of American history, English, arithmetic. geogranhv © and similar studies, There are 24 en- rolled in this course now. The manual training and dressmak- ing classes have been very succesé+ ful. The dressmaking and manual train- ing classes are held at the high school every Tuesday and Thursday night starting at 7:30 o’clock. The com- mercial course, also held at the high school, is conducted on Monday, Wednesday and.Friday nights, start- ing at 7:30 o’clock. Martin, city super: intendent of schools today in speak- ing of the interest shown in the work by the students. “Last year we did not exceed 60 and this year we have 128 enrolled with more joining the yarious classes each ceyening they meet, “I want everyone to understand that if they have the first few lessons in any of the classes they still can join these classes and will have no trouble in keeping up with them if they show the same interest that those already ‘enrolled ‘are showing. There are a number of married people taking the various courses, particularly in the commercial subjects. The dance Will be an invitation affair strictly for le- gion members and their friends. ‘It had been originally planned to hold the first dance at one of the lo- cal hotels, but because of conditions resulting from the special session of tne legislature this was found impossible.
