Commissioners Pass Budget at Weekly Meeting Last Night; ‘Reject Sewer Bids Adding $1,200 for state insurance to the budget for the ensuing year, the city commissioners last night adopted the financial budget, which amounts to $99,980, This is the biggest amount ever required to run the city since its iucorporation, Besides the state’ insurdnce, which covers fire and tornado insurance on all public buildings as required by recently enacted legislation, as well as work- men’s compensation, $10,000 will be used for a Swimming pool, $3,200 for the public library, $4,000 for a motor fire truck, $1,500 for auditorium ex penses, $2,500 for needy poor, $ for the Missouri bridge fund, $3,000) for contingent purposes, $8,970 for mu- nicipal bonds, $6,400 for two paving districts, $1,500 for special -assess- ments, The general fund this year amounts to $81,310, The requirements for the various acpartments are: Street department, $14,320; health department, $3,550; fire department, $9,400; police depart: ment, $6,100; water and sewers, $11,100, REJECT SEWER BIDS Five bids for the construction of the main trunk line sanitary sewer on the south side were received, but the com- n yoted unanimously to reject all s because it thought the cost was toc high at thig time. The Harggart Construction company of Fargo agreed to do the work with block segments for $51,158 and with pipe for $52, 249, John O'Connor of Fargo agreed to construct the sewer with block segments for $51, 296 and with pipe for $49,929.80, Other | bidders, whose figures were higher than these two, were Frank G.
