WEEK Night Aflack as Carried On i in The pop, pop, pep of machine guns will be heard in Bismarck next week when the gigantic military display will | be opened to the public at the armory. Night attacks, with automatic rifles, machine guns, hand grenades, flares, 1ockets, rifles, pistols and other instru- ments of death, such as were used by the American soldiers in France against the Hun, will be duplicated by the sol- diers accompanying the display so as to give the people of Bismarck, Bur- Jeigh county and the surrounding coun- try-an idea of what modern: warfare, such as their sons and: husbands wert through in France, is like. : Through \the courtesy‘of M. J. O’Con- nor the armory will be used. to house the exhibit. The display will arrive bere Sunday, a freight car being neces- ‘sary to ship all of the articles used \in ‘the :exhibition ‘and’ display. -It will iyemain here all week, being sent to Aberdeen next Saturday, ‘Wherever the display has been seen it-has attracted thousands of people who are interested in the government’s wilitary activities during the war. At Minot, where the display is now being exhibited, the crowds have been so big, itis said, that it-is impossible at times to crowd all of the people into the place Where it is shown at one time, TWO ‘SHOWS A DAY. +. Demonstrations will be given twice daily during the exhibition of the im- plements: of war’ here and army ser- geants who aceompany the exhibit will explain the various articles on display, how: they. were used, what their pur- pose was, how they are constructed and the ends they accomplished. Every evening the soldiers will give a simu- dated night attack on an enemy trench, ‘using machine guns, hand grenades, automatic rifles, flares and rockets ex- actly as these articles were used in ‘France. ov Besides the death dealing devices: enumerated above, the shelter tent known as the “pup tent” in which two men sleep and which are carried on their hacks when marching, the rolling kitchen. which served hot food to the men while they were in the trenches, the gas. masks, steel helmet and other parts of each soldier’s equipment will be on display. | As a fitting climax. to the night at- tacks staged every evening, trench mor- tars will-be demonstrated, showing ex- |: actly -how the infantry would send ‘ever “these shells into the enemy’s tvenches and dugouts, causing destruc- tion. over'a wide radius. There will be no exhibit on Saturday afternoon or evening next week, as it ‘jg necessary to pack it for shipment that morning. ‘DEMAND FOR FARM LABOR NOT..GREAT AT PRESENT TIME Federal: Employment Bureau Re- ports Needs All Filled 2” ‘Until Threshing There has Been a slight decrease in the demand for farm labor the past week, according to the Bismarck re- erulting office which is handling the former federal employment bureau un- der-instructions from John N. Hagan, state commissioner of agriculture, who is federal director of employment for North Dakota. An average of five men a day has| + heen ‘maintained so far this week by the employment office, compared with un average of about fifteen men daily last week, it is said. No calls have been received as yet for threshing hands, but this class of farm labor is expected to be in demand in a few weeks, Most of the farm labor sent out from Bismarck this week went to farms ‘around Underwood and Garrison, it is said.- The commissioner’s office at the capitol has also handled several farm hands daily and the county agent, agent, George N. Gustatson, reports that practically all of the farms.in Bur- leigh county are well supplied with Jabor at the present time. Farmers who desire labor for the harvesting season, as well as at the present time, are urged to communi- cate with the federal employment of- fiee, Box 443, Bismarck, N. D., imme- diately, stating the number of men they will desire or need now, the class of work, the hours and wages paid and how long such labor will be needed on their farms. This will enable the re- cruiting office to send the best men tavailable for each job. RANCH WITH OVER 1,000 HOGS OWNED BY BISMARCK MAN Jeff White, .With His.
