LEGION TO FORM WAR RISK BUREAU IN NORTH DAKOTA Patriotic Organization of War Veterans Will Assist Re- turned Soldiers One of the most important activities of the American Legion, the national organization of American veterans of the world war, is the war risk division which has been created at national headquarters in New York to render prompt and efficient service to soldi sailors and marines in matters of ¥ risk insurance, allotments and family allowances, compensation and service pay. More than four million men who were members of the military and nay- al forces between April 6, 1917, and No- vember 11, 1918, took out war risk in- surance. Many of these men or their Auditorium 3 Nights Starting Night Show—8 :30 4th July Matinee—2:30 P. M. Seats on Sale at Harris & Co., Monday, June 30. d2pendents are now entitled to compen- sation. To all veterans the government ofters the opportunity to convert their insurance now, or at any time within the next five years. The American legion realizes that the majority of the men who are entitled to the privileges of the war risk in- surance act will need expert and disin- terested advice on their own individual cases, At the St. Louis meeting of the legion the delegates pledged the legion to a campaign of sound education and widespread activity, in order that the rights, privileges, and benefits of the insurance act might be conserved and that men discharged from the service might be made to realize their rights under this act, WAR RISK OFFICER NAMED, To this end each state organization " in the American legion has designed a war risk insurance officer who will be prepared to handle promptly and with lexpert knowledge all cases which have been referred to local posts for advice and action, Many-of the local posts have obtained the voluntary services of a member who is familiar with the financial regulations relating to nation- TONIGHT, July 2 It was an ambitious task the makers of “The Birth of a Race” set for themselves, but they succeeded with it, and the result is a truly great photoplay, which al service so that missteps may be avoided, The state insurance officers will for- | ward all cases of aggravated delay and those involving questions of law or procedure to the national war risk of- fiver at national headquarters, Ar- rangements have been made to handle these complicated cases in New York. A representative will be employed in Washington to present cases referred by the American legion to the special service section of the bureau of war risk insurance created for that purpose. It is thus expected to expedite action. This service is designed to enable ex-service men properly to take ad- vantage of the facilities provided by the government for the adjustment of these matters, and to secure immediate relief for those men and their depend- ents whose war finances have become complicated. It will be supplied free also to all who are eligible to member- ship through having been in the army or navy during the war. SOME YANKS.
