Springfield, Ill, June 26.—Between 4,500 and 5,000 telephone operators and linemen affiliated with the Inter- national Brotherhood of Electrical workers and employed jn St. Louis and East St. Louis and Granite City, TL, will strike today according to the president of the electrical unions af- ter an conference held in St. Louis. PHONE GIRLS WALK OUT. St. Louis, June 26.—Girl telephone operator and electrical workers em- ployed by the Southwestern Bell and Kinlock Telephone companies walk- ed out here at noon today in response to a strike vote taken last night. Ser- vice of the Kinlock Company was sus- pended and the Bell Company was seriously crippled. Approximately 1,- 200 of the 1,700 operators employed by the two companies are said to be members of the union. During the past week six marriage licenses have been issued in the offices of Judge Davies of the county court, and so far this month eleven have ap- plied for permits to wed. ¥ On Tuesday a license was issued to Ole Petersen and Miss Barbara Volk; both residents of the capital city, JURY DISAGREES. Spokane, Wash., June 26.—The jury. which heard the evidenve in the trial of William H. (Lone Star) Djetz, on charges of false registration for the draft and falsification of his draft questionaire was discharged today after its inability to reach a verdict. BISMARCK PASTOR TO ATTEND STATE LUTHERAN MEET Rey. John Flint Leaves for An- nual Convention at Grand Forks Rev. John Flint, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, left this morning for Grand Forks, to attend the state Lutheran convention, which will be in session for about a week, beginning on June 27. Rev. Flint will speak at some of the meetings, and he expects ts be away until about July 5. An attendance of about 5,000 is ex- pected at the gathering, and speakers from out of the state will include Dr. H. G. Stub and Dr. C.K. Selverg. Rey. I, D, Yivisaker of Fargo is the president of the North Dakota district, and will preside at the convention. Among the officers of the district are Rey. Hulteng of Grand Forks, vive- president, and Rey. Sweger of Cooners- town, secretary. Mrs. I. D, Yivisaker of Fargo,, gen- eral secretary of the Women’s Mission- ary Federation of the United Luther- an church, will go to Grand Forks on Friday, June 27, and on Saturday, June 28, will organizze the North Du- kota district of the federation. Since the union of the Lutheran churches of the country a year ago, there has been no district organization of the missionary federation, althougt there has been a general organization. SESSIONS IN ZION CHURCH The morning and afternoon sessions cf the convention will he held in the parlors of Zion Lutheran church, and the program will be given over to a series of addreses by prominent work- ers in the mission field and returned missionaries, Mrs. Oline Netland, wo has been a missionary in China for the past 25 years, will be one of the speak- ers, Dr. Nellie Peterson, head interne at Ashbury hospital in Minneapolis for the past year and who will become a medical missionary to China this fall, also will speeak. Mr. Sie, a Chinese hoy, who is being educated at St. Olaf’s ecllege, Northfifield, Minn., will also address the convention. Miss Amund- son, secretary of the board of charities of the church, which is affiliated with the missionary federation, will also have a-place on the program, MISS LINDAAS TO SING, Miss Alpha Lindaas of Mayville, N, D., who was graduated from the voice department of St. Olaf’s college this year, Will be the chief soloist at the convention. Miss Lindaas has a beau- tiful soprano voice, and has spent much time traveling both in this state and in eastern cities with the musical or- sanizations of the college. She has been the principal soloist with these or- genizations for the past two years. Miss Lindaas plans to go to New York city in the fall to take further work. The Ladies’ Aid society of the Zion church wil serve luncheon at noon to the visiti g EV SESSION, The evening session of the conven- tion will be held at the Grand Forks auditorium, Dr, H. G.
