This act-is timely, for our people are being rudely: awakened to the need of better training for citizenship than our boys and girls are now re- ceiving. They realize the urgent ne- cessity of properly equipping our chil- dren for the tremendous tasks they wil be called upon to perform. after the war is ended. The council for national defense says with regard to this subject! “There are nearly 4,000,000 children in the United States who can not re- ceive the benefits of kindergarten {training either because there are no kindergartens at all or not enough. “Suggestion. Interest yourself in this need of the very little ones and write to .the bureau of education, MMMM tion to us and Talk with our beautiful lines. a Washington, for their materia) and that of the national kindergarten asso- sation affiliated with the bureau.” Training for citizenship cannot be- ‘gin ‘too early according to the Unit- ed States commissioner of Education, who for months has been issuing, in cooperation with the national kinder- agrten association the series of arti- cles ‘to provide better training for little ones. in the home, A drive is now on to have more kin dergartens opened throughout the country and parents are circulating education. Has such a jetition been started for your school? The general federation of women’s clubs, the national congress of moth- ers and parent teacher associations, suffrage and labor organizations afe all deeply interested in this subject and great hopes are entertained that the drive will receive the hearty co- operation of local schoo] authorities throughout the country. © GUARANTEED TAILORING ‘Dry cleaning and pressing, hand or men.
