STATE MUSEUM Dr. Melvin R. Gilmore, curator of the state Historical Society of North Dakota has just received from the “Banca d'Italia’ (Bank of Italy) at Rome, a large consignment of wall posters, placards, pamphlets, circulars, post cards, and other forms of pub- licity for the [talian National Loan for the war. These posters are done in the artistic manner characteristic of Haly. They are fine in color and/ drawing and show power and resolu- tion of mind as well as beauty. They make a very valuable addition to the | alneady large and comprehensive col- | lection which the curator has been} building up for the state. This col-} lection will be of immense historic | value in the years to come as it will show not only the military activities of our own country and that of our | allies in this tremendous struggle for freedom, but also the humanitarian, civic, industrial, financial, and educa- tional activities of the nations at the} same time. In this matter North Dakota has got the jump on her neighboring states, for her collection was started at the beginning and has kept np with the =progress of the war, while the other states are only now beginning or have not even yet begun. Another unique and very interest- ing series of was posters which the curator has acquired is that of the recruitment of the Czecho-Slovak army. This series is of special inter- est because of the epic story of the; aotivities of the Czecho-Slovak army in the reformation of Kussia and the} consequent recognition of the Czecho-! Slovak nation by the governments of the United States and of our allies. This army is fighting under their an- cient free flag, and that is repyesent- ed on the posters used for recruitment of their army in America. TABLETS! TABLETS!
