BURNQUIS Contempt Held ‘Up Under Order of Prohibition from the Supreme Court JURISDICTION IS QUESTION St. Paul, Minn., July 13.—Shortly before contempt proceedings against Governor J. A. A. Burnquist and other state officials were to be called in dis- rwict court here today, the state -su- preme court halted them by a writ of prohibition. The supreme court hearing was set for Friday morning. Judge F, N. Dickson, of the Ramsey. county district court, recently ordered Governor Burnquist, Adjutant General W. F. Rhinow and‘Secretary H. W. Libby of the state safety commission, to show cause why they should not be punished for contempt of court. Judge Dickson allowed a saloon in 7 Blooming Prairie to reopen recently, ’ otter it had ben. closed by, an ‘order of the state -safety commission. After the judge issued this order, the. saloon—and two others which re- opened on ‘the ‘strength of the court order—were again closed by ‘Minne- sota home guard forces, sent .to Blooming Prairie'by the governor, The state officials referred ‘to their acts a8 @ war measure.
