Washington, May 17—All pers and firms engaged in the importation, manutacture, storage. and distribu- tion of farm machinery and equip- ment, ,except those specifically ex- empted by the food control act, will be placed under license next June 24 under a proclamation issued tonight by President Wilson. This action is regarded by the president as neces- ply. Unjust profits, resales within the trade without reasonable justification, attempts to monopolize, unreasonable !supplies and wilful waste of farm equipment are prohibited under reg- ulations issued simultaneously with the proclamation. Licenseees are en- joined not to sell farm equipment to persons known to have violated any of the provisions of the food control act. NEW “SUPER WHEAT.” Santa Rosa, Cal., May 17.—A “super wheat" containing fourteen per cent gluten, has been evolvéd by Luther Burbank, the noted California horti- culturist, after experiments extend- ing over eleven years, it was }nounced here today. The wheat may be grown from Hud- son Bay to Patagonia, and is intended to replace the California variety with it's low content of gluten. Iu the past millers have had to mix California and northern wheat in or- der to produce a bread making flour.
