Martel, Miss Esther Teichmann, Miss ‘Lillian Gustafson, Miss Sara Sand and Miss Anna Frankhauser. Following the dinner an informal reception was ten- the nurses home of the hospital. Lieut. Martel, who is a graduate from the second officers’ training camp at Fort Snelling, was formerly connected with the x-ray department of the i stitution and his work in the army will be in x-ray department. The staff physicians and other friends of the young lieutenant attended the re- ception. Demonstration Well Attended. The demonstration conducted Wed- nesday afternoon in the gymnasium of the high school by Miss Newton of the extension department of the state agricultural college was attended by a large representation of the women of the city, as well as the members of the Woman’s council. Miss New- ton gave splendid information on the conservation of food and dis- ‘tributed a number of recipes to the women. War bread and cereals were discussed and samples of bread baked by the women of the city from re- cipes furnished at the last demonstra- tion by Miss Newton were features | of the meeting. Another demonstra- tion was held this afternoon in St. Mary’s parochial school. Many of the women of the east end district at- | tended.
