In a series of 13 games, Bis- marck defeated New Rockford six times, lost five games and tied two. The first game yesterday was won by a 2 to 0 score, Goldrick' and Elis formed the battery and only three hits were secured from “Goldie,” while Waswo was ‘touched up for eight hits. The evening game was also close, the score being 2 to 4, with Grant and, Ellis the battery for Bismarck, and (Waswo, Browning and Moore for New Rockford. Bismarck: has won its last few games with the Eddy county team chiefly on superior stick work. - The boys hit when hits meant runs. New Rockford recognized _ Bis- marck’s claim to the championship by declining to play a series of five games at Bismarck next week. The local management offered to put: up a certi- fled check for $400 to guarantee ex- penses and split the gate receipts fifty fifty. The New Rockford management stated that their pitchers were about “all in,” and that it would be neces- sary to get a new pitching staff and strengthen the team in several depart- ments, and that the expense of this would more than cat up the gate re- ceipts here. After parlying over a series in Bis- marck and failing to come to any agreement, the New Rockford team disbanded at Jamestown yesterday. The Bismarck team came home and a game may be arranged for Sunday to wind up the season.
