ONE FAILURE OF ELECTRICITY Prophecy That It Might Be Used by Prospectors to Locate Ore Bodies, Is Not Fulfilled. The marvelous accomplishments ir electric science have far surpasse¢ anything that men would have dare¢ to predict in the early days of its de- velopment, yet, point out experts of Uncle Sam’s geological survey, certain prophecies in regard to it have re mained unfulfilled. Among these are the suggestions of some geologists that electric phenomena might play an im- portant part in the formation of ore deposits and that electric, methods might be utilized in prospecting for) ore bodies. Both of these suggestions, it is point: ed out by experts of the survey, in the light of the growing knowledge of ore deposits and of electricity, appear te be illusions. It is now clear that the great causes of ore deposition are not electric in the ordinary sense and that the electric currents gencrated in ore deposits are far too small to aid a prospector in discovering ore by their influence on any kind of an electric ap- paratus held in his hands. If, however, say the experts, elec: tricity is denied a leading part in the formation of ore de ts, its action cannot be excluded entire It is well known that many chemical reactions are capable of. developing measurable electric currents, and it should there- fore be expected, it is said, that in places where chemfcal action is ip TORS STTIAED RSET Peat i eet MUSE THIS WANT AD PAGE AND BUSINESS MEN’S DIRECTORY —$—$————— JOHN BORTELL Sheet.
