Y. who was killed near Buffalo in his own car, when he met death with an accident, the care being a total loss. P. D. Brett, 515 America avenue received a message Sunday after- noon telling of the serious illness of his brother, James, at his home in Duluth ang he left on the night train for there. A later message received from him stated that the brother had passed away before his arrival. BETHEL LUTHERAN SALE AND SUPPER NOVEMBER 21 The committee appointed to de- cide on the date for the annual Christmas sale and supper fro the Ladies’ Aid of the Bethel Lutheran church met yesterday and decided to hold them Tuesday, November 21 in the basement of the church. Mrs. A. Lord left Bemidji yester- day for Minneapolis to visit rela- tives for a few days. Mr. Lord and dzughter Miss Margaret left this morning for there. Mr. and Mrs. Leo McCormick are expected to arrive tomorrow from their home in Grand Forks to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mc- Manus. MACCABEE GUARD TEAM TO MEET THIS EVENING It is important that all members of the Maccabee Guard Team be present this evening at 8 o’clock at the Moose hall for drill as this is in preparation for the rally to be held there Monday. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE A birthday surprise was given at the home of Mrs. John Swansen Saturday, November 4. About thirty five guests were invited. Cards and dancing composed the entertainment of the evening. Mrs. Swansen was presented two beautiful gifts, also a boquet of flowers. G. A. R. AND G. A R.
