OEFICIAL COUNTY AND OTFY PROCEEDINGS : _ABOUT THAT YEOMAN HOME . Thé Brotherhood of American. Yeomen is E;ifimg steps to secure a sight which will ultimately be expanded to represent an in- .avesfiixen’t'of%lU,OOU,‘OOO. i %’pcotding to reports this sight seeking proposition has narrowed down to three cities in Wisconsin and five in Minnesota. No; Bemidji is .not one of them. There are three near the;:Twin cities, one at Little Falls and one af Stewart, which make up the fjve sites being considered in this state. The committee desires a thousand acre tract of land. It does not ask that the land be donated. They.expect to pay what the land is worth. They want good land; convenient rail- road facilities; good highways; good drainage and pleasant surroundings. Just why Bemidji has not seen fit to fol- low the suggestion made through the columns of the Pioneer several months ago by A, D. Johnson, county auditor and head of the local Yeeoman lodge, is a mystery. Certainly, if any city and com- faunity has sites to sell at a good price— sites that are better than anywhere else' in the world and ‘equalled by none, Bemidji and community has such sites. With our beautiful lakes and streams, good highways and railroads, together with soil that produces the finest crops and timber that would make the most ideal parks and building sites, Bemidji, it must be admitted. can. offer one thousand acre tracts that would tickle the mind and in- tellect of every member of the si‘ght com- mittee: B 5 . oy ‘Why not, while the committee visits sites in Minnésota invite them 'up here, to ™ look,_over this locality? We can get.busy -and appoint a committee to choose sites a ‘pletity ‘and in a hdrry. It wont take long comes to do business. While it is up as far as Little Falls, why not meet them their with one of our airplapes - or a.flock of hi%h-.powered cars and take them to Be- midji. ! When they arrive, show them God's country, the playground of America, and send them away, thejr lungs filled with hearts filled :with a 'conviction that there is no place to. ¢omp n. have to per- form the dutyi and privi ioti ., Selves and, infl addition ed HtHe yotes cast by, others ssiszny ©- The'peébple, although not so keenly in- terested, should perforth thd duty of vot. mg, keeping in mind, that, at the -same time they are hiring men to render a serv- ice for them, for which these men and wo- men are paid salaries.
