There were about 35 present, they departing for their homes at a late hour all declaring it an enjoy- able evening. MRS, WHALEY SURPRISED Mrs. Archie Whaley was very pleasantly surprised Tuesday after- noon by a féw of her friends and neighbors who, despite the storm, gathered at her home, 1022 Mill Park, and helped her celebrate her birth znniversary. Social conversa- tion was enjoyed, and the Hallowe- en:idea was carried out in the dain- ty lunch brought by the self-invited guests and served in the late after- noon, the napkins being decorated with cut out pictures of black cats and owls by a clever scissors artist who was one of the guests.
