C. Smith home, Friday evening April 22. About (5 were present in- cluding J. F. Mahoney, Mr. and Mrs. W. 8. Cummings of Bemidji, and Miss Elsie Jennings, president cf the White Pine Literary society, a guest of hon- or. The table was decorated with ban- quet candles in the class colors of crimson and gold and the colors were prettily; worked out .in place cards, streamers of crepe paper and in the deesert of wild cranberry pastries. The class history was given by Robert Wymore, toasts and speeches were made and the evening closed with games. 'The Up and Go class has completed a most successful year under the leadership of Clarence Ba- ney as president, and' J. F. Mahoney as teacher. Reuel Smith was elected president for the new year and Mr. Mahoney re-elected teacher. C. C. Smith accompanied by Mis- sionary Cummings and wife drove to Cass Lake Monday where the-latter left for Bemidji. i ' The Kitichi Literary dlub, gave an excellent program Thursday evening | to a 'packed house. The Up and Go class gave a play entitled “The Yan- kee Peddler” to which they did full justice. Large crowds drove in from other points with cars and teams and spoke very highly of the talent shown by the different ones giving the play. The Woodmen will hold a busi- ness meeting at Kitichi school house Wednesday evening. fThere will be a child’s clinic at the Kitichi schcol house about May 13. 1t wil be ‘held by Miss MacGregor, | County Red Cross nurse from Bemid- ji. Everybody is asked to bring their children, and find if there is any- thing wrong with ‘them. This is a great thing for -a community, and advantage should “be taken of the| ‘opportunity. ‘A number of young people was en- tertafned for the week end at ‘the country home of Mr. and Mrs. New- man the past week. Mr. and Mrs. ‘W. S. Cummings and Miss Canmpbell. motored across Kitichi Lake Saturday evening for a short visit -with the Sawyer families of Woodland. Henry Sawyer took them across in-his boat. On May 7 the Kitichi farmers club meeting will be held at the Kitichi school house. There is considerable business to be transacted. A very in- teresting program will be given and a fine lunch will'be served.at the close. Every one welcome. ‘The Henderson mill was dlosed dewn a few days last week, while the craine was being repaired. It is run- ning in fine shape now. Many of the farmers in this viein- ity are through seeding and will put in potatoes this week. Mr. Mills drove to Blackduck last Wednesday and brought out all the dynamite for the different farmers Jthat, was ordered at the last farmers meeting. A. hall on Saturday night, when the three 'act comedy, “Deacon Dubbs” was pre- sented by local talent. To €ay that the play was a success is too mild an expression to adequately express the manner in which the play was stag- ed. The characters all played their parts in a manner that would be a credit to professional actors and act- - | resses.
