\R'S BIGGEST PICTURE “COMING 10’ THE GRAND . Wyndham Standing,-Mahlon Ham- {ltor aomi ChildersgLawson Butt, Alec B. Francis, Kate" Lester, Flora Revalles, Billie Cottorr-are the artists who were selected for the cast of “Barthbound” which avill be shown at the Gfand theatre sgon. You know what to’expect of a dast like that. But “Easthbound’ 'offers a great deal mhore than consummate acting. It offers yow-the-most movel, the most compelling, the most skillfully handl- ed story-that has ever. been unfold- ed on the screen. “‘Easthbound” todk one solid year in the’making. 5 A LLOYD COEKTAIL Harold Llogd, who* has fixed a laughter cocktail which he has chris- tened ‘“High and Dizzy,” says that, even. though it doesn’t taste as though it had power, he cannot doubt that there is water-power. ‘Personally, the screen’s me comedian is—and was—a total stainer, ice cream being his pet in- dulgence, but, in *“High and Dizzy, showing at the Grand thtatre Sat- urday and Sunday he gives an imper- sonation of what can be accomplished with home brew. “HOME’ AT THE GRAND 2 LAST TIMES TONIGHT Mildred Harris, the star of many Tecent screen successes appears for the last time at the Grand tonight in a play that is pretty sure to tug at the heart-strings of the most hard- ened of audiences. Miss Harris, also known as Mrs. Charlie Chaplin, wife of one of the screen’s most renowned funmakers, appears in a play written especially for her by Lois Weber, who produced ‘‘Home” under the banner of the Universal company. The story itself is intensely appeal- ing and of unqualified merit. Miss Weber herself directed the produc- tlon, selecting as a supporting cast some of the most capable of the Uni- versal’s extensive coterie of popular favorites. “The cast of ‘“Home” in- .cludes Al Ray, brother of Charlie Ray; Clarissa Selwynne, Helen Yod- - er, Lydla Knott, Frank Elliott, John Cossar and William Critgenden. CHARMING PARAMOUNT ACTRESS WEARS RICH FRENCH GOWNS Billie Burke in the sprightly Para- mount picture *“The Frisky Mrs. Johnson,” will again be the attraction at the Elko theatre tonight, last times. The adaptation was made by Lawrence McClosky and Edward Dil- lon was the director. In this picture Miss Burke has an altogether new role, one that dis- plays her more serious rather than der lighter qualities. She is a fas- cinating American widow who s known in Paris as “frisky” and the story concerns her efforts to save her sister from disgrace, even at the risk St he loves. of losing the man she loves. most possible out of life. Needless to say, Miss Burke wears some of the most attractive Parisian gowns ever seen on the screen. Ward Crane is leading man. There is also an out-of-the ordin- ary, two-part comedy at the Elko to- night, entitled “Loose Lions,” in which animal actors take prominent parts. - DOUGLAS MACLEAN STARS AGAIN IN “THE JAILBIRD” Convicts breaking out of prison is a common occurance these days. Cenvicts breaking out and then breaking back again is a novelty that isn’t read about very often. Shake- speare Clancy, the peppy young hero of “Jailbird,” the latest Paramount Ince picture starring Douglas Mac- Lean which will be shown at the Elko theatre tomarrow and Saturday, does both and has an amazing string of adventures in between. MacLean, in the role of lancy, gives one of the most clever and en- tertaining performances of his screen career. Never does the story or the tar permit the picture to lag or be- come tiresome. It holds its interest thruout and contains a score of situa- tions that carry a punch. “The Jailbird” was directed by Lloyd Ingraham. The supporting players are headed by Doris May, who is the leading woman in this production. APPEALING STORY PICTURIZED The novels of Sir Gilbert Parker, packed as they are with appealing love interest and red-blooded action, are excellent material for the movie makers. George Melford, the veteran producer of “The Sea Wolf,” “Every- woman,” “The Round Up,” and other important pictures, has taken Sir Gil- bert's popular “The Translation of a +Savage’ and made of it a photoplay that has been hailed as one of the mcst meritorious of the current sea- son. The screen versioh is called “Behold My Wife!” will bt shown at the Elke theatre next Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Mabel Juli- enne Scott, Milton Sills, Elliott Dex- ter, and Ann Forrest are included in the cast. The picture is Paramount. “HELL'S 0ASIS” SHOWS AT REX TODAY AND FRIDAY Mystery, love, adventure and re- ligion at the point of a gun in a wild Hell-hole of the western desert is the theme of ‘“‘Hell's Oasis,” a new Pinnacle Production starring Neal Hart, which will open an engagement at the Rex theatre on Thursday and Friday. The photoplay is an adap- tation of the famous stage production entire community. Fighting Parson.” upon dozens of exciting situations in the little town that later known as “Hell’s Oasis.” “THE ROMANCE OF TARZAN” Tantor, a huge African elephant, takes one of the leading parts in “The Romance of Tarzan,” the spec- tacular screen version of the conclu ing chapters of “Tarzan of the Apes” by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which opens at the Rex theatre Saturday af- ternoon for one day only. The scene in which Tantor makes such an unexpected and thrilling ap- pearance occurs just after Tarzan has engaged in a battle to the death with six giant cannibals who lay in wait along one of the jungle trails to in- tercept the party of whites, including the beautiful American girl with whom Tarzan has fallen in dove. Exhausted and bleeding, Tarzan staggers awdy from the glade of death, and is on the point of sinking down into the thick jungle grass, there to become a victim of the first savage black or beast of prey that comes that way, when he is startled into full consciousness by the trampl- ing of heavy feet close at hand. The next instant Tantor, Tarzan’s mighty friend, comes smashing thru the undergrowth. Answering im- mediately to Tarzan’s cry of distress, the great beast kneels and wrapping his trunk about the injured youth, swings him W@cross his neck and marches in triumph with him to the distant beach, where he deposits his precious burden out of harm’s way behind some sheltering rocks. “THE PRICE OF REDEMPTION” Beginning Sunday next, “The Price of Redemption,” the big new Metro production, starring Bert Lytell, will be the feature attraction at the Rex Theatre, for a run of two days. Pic- turized from the famous novel, “The Temple of Dawn,” by I. A. R. Wylle, this new Lytell vehicle is said to sur- pass all previous screen productions of this popular young star, and to establish a new record in expensive film creation. The story of the play in which Bert Lytell enacts the leading role is that of a young Englishman in the “The Fighting Parson,” by Wm.
