DARING FOX COWBOY STAR * AT REX THEATRE TODAY | For all who love western stories— and who does not?—the Rex theatre will offer Buck Jones, the daring| Fox star, in a picture called “Sunset| Sprague” beginning today. ‘Jones’ pictures are always impres- #ive and unusual. There is no finer rider on the screen or off, and he makes one reel that the real joy of 1ving is not to be found in the Mg; cities,, but on horseback in the not densely populated west. “Sunset Sprague” is a lively story of a cowboy who unexpectedly en- counters the biggest job of his life.! Sunset (Buck Jones) does this job in fine style, and after he scatters ® band or range crooks he returns a | wvaluable mine to a plucky girl from whom it had ben stolen. | “HURLED FROM THE CLOUDS” AT REX TODAY AND WEDNESDAY ‘Bob and Ruth, escaping from the mine by swimming in the under- ‘ground lake released by the explo-| sion, make their way to the outer| air and notice a handcar on a near-| by railroad. As they climb aboard, | they see’ to their horror, the Mahdi| and his, pirates in the distance.| Frantically they operate the hand- car in an effort to escape. hTe Mardi halds up a locomotive, kills the crew and mans the engine with his band. He opens the throttle .wide and chases the couple. On the pirate submarine Lieut. Morgan has got in touch by wireless with a navy dirigible, which promises to pick him up near the submarine. i 'The “blimp” comes up, lowers a rope ladder, and Morgan clambers avoard.| The Mahdi, in the locomotive,! ®aine upon Ruth and Bob, and crashes into their handcar, sending It, hurtling over a precipice. The couple | ‘eacapes injury and make their way to the side of a woodland stream. Ruth confesses to Bob that she does mot care for Winthrop and really Joves him (Bob). The two are ambushed by the pir- ates and recaptured. Bob succeeds 4n ‘overpowering his captors and flees. Ruth is placed upon a horse and is forced to ride off with the Mahdi. Morgan in the airship sees Ruth, and lowers the rope ladder. Ruth spurs her horse and, leaping for the ‘the ladder, catches it and is brought aboard. The Mahdi sends up his sea- plane, which sets the “blimp” afire. Ruth and the other occupants take to parachutes, and the pirates in the seaplane recapture her in midair. ‘Winthrop and Storrow, father of Ruth and Eleanor, arrive on Stor- Tow's yacht at the blue buoy where they are to place the money as ran- som for the kidnapped brides. “THE FIGHTING PARSON" AT THE REX THURSDAY “The Fighting Parson,” Wm. L. Robert’s popular stage play of fight and love, has been adapted to the screen and produced as a special mo- tion picture feature under the title of ““Hell’s Oasis,” with Neal Hart as the *Hell's Ohsls"” will open an engage- | ment at the Rex theatre on Thurs- day. The many thousands who have 8een the stage version under the title of “The Fighting Parson,” will have little need to be told how exciting it is and what remarkably excellent pic- ture material it contains. It is a story of a man, who fights an entire community to protect a slip of a girl ——an Evangelist of good—and finally becomes a sort of Parson, himself, through love of his protege. As the Fighting Parson, Neal Hart fights single handed a hnklle against , an entire town. ‘Supporting Mr. Hart is an unpar- alleled cast, including Joe June, and others. TOM MOORE SHOWING IN “STOP THIEF” AT GRAND “Stop Thief!” Leave me my dia- phragm!” That will be your speech- less cry if you see smiling Tom Moore v showing at the Grand theatre for the Jast time tonight in his newest com- edy based on the famous farce, ““Stop Thief!” The combination of star and comedy is a veritable thief of laugh- ter in that you will laugh until your diaphragm is so sore you can’t laugh any more. It's a wholesome farce that will please every taste from grandfather to little Johnny. A fur- tive tear appears here and there as the very engaging crook and his Bweetheart plead that the robbery of the wedding presents was to have Dbeentheir last “haul” before marry- ing and becoming respectable memb- ers of society. All the loot is restor- ed and they are forgiven—and mar- ried—but oh, boy! the fun that is uarolled first! ‘‘Over the Transom' with Mrs. Joe Martin, the famous monkey comedi-| enne, complete the program. GRAND TOMORROW ‘Clarissa Selwynne makes vineing part of Mrs. Deering, the ‘frivolus wife of a rich man , in *‘Home™ the latest Jewel production from the Universal studios in which Mrs. Charlie Chaplin (Mildred Har- ris) ‘plays the leading role. “Home" is booked for the Grand theatre to- morrow. i ROMANCE OF ROCKY COAST . —“DEEP WATERS” THRILLER .Few scenes in recent pictures at the KElko theatre have been more ¢eArilling than the one in “Deep Wa- ters” where the hero, a deep-sea div- er; is.rescuing victims from a wreck- ed‘steamer and brings up the half- drowned body of the youth who ran awhy with the diver's young wife. “Dedp Waters” is occupying the screen at the Elko last times tonight, and is Maurice Tourneur's latest smount production. i Fhe plcture was adapted from F. a con- “Caleb West, Master Diver.” 'Hupkinsoh Smith's well known novel, .‘ The | story centers around the romance of | ' West and his girl-wife, Betty, and is packed with stirring scenes on and | below. the Atlantic. Barbara Bedford, Jack ilbert and Broehken Christians are included in the cast. FOUR LEADING MEN SEEN IN ONE PICTURE Four handsome leading men gll in one picture! That is enough to cre- ate unlimited skepticism among mo- tion picture fans. Just to convince them, all they need to do is to go to the Elko theatre tomorrow and Thursday to see Billie Burke in the Paramount picturization of the Clyde Fitch play, “The Frisky Mrs. John- son.” This does not mean that Miss Burke actually marries four men in the pro- duction, thouga, as the charming American widow, Mrs. Johnson, it might almost be expected. No, the only one man she theoretically mar-| | ries is Ward Crane, who has been in many picture productions. portant rojles ed opposite many stars, and Jean de Briac, popular in France as the leading man for Sarah Bernhardt, Rita Jolivet and Francesca Bertini.
