Earl Towle returned home last eve- ning from twenty-two months service in the Panama Canal zone. He ar- rived in the States on March 24, and received his discharge from Camp Dix, N. J. At a meeting of the Ladies’ Aid of St. Phillip’s church this week a beautiful quilt, which was made by the society, was raffled off. Mrs. John McCormack drew the lucky number, 93, and is the proud owner of the beautiful quilt. The Willits Booster club were roy- ally entertained at the Rex theatre at 10 o’clock this morndng. A film entitled “The Man of th est” was shown to a big crowd of youngsters, and the city Boy’s Band played dur- ing the entire showing. The nfialr was a big success. h Mr. and Mrs. H. These meetings have been full of interest, and may be testified to their helpfulness. The church has been filled night after night to hear the sermons and expositions of of the word of God, and to take part in the singing and testimony. Mr. Moyer will preach his last sermon to- morrow night, on the theme "Saying Good-bye."” MAKE YOUR NOMINATION FOR PRETTY GIRL CONTEST On another page of this issue there appears an advertisement calling at- tention to the pretty girls contest which is being c¢onducted in this city and to which all High school girls are eligible to enter. Winners are to be selécted by.the public at showings on the screen at a local theatre, it is planned. Everyone in- terested is urged to make their nom- inations for this contest on the blank which appears in the advertisement for this purpose. The local winners will have their pictures published in the -Duluth News Tribune and will compete in the contest staged there. ELKS’ OVERALL DANCE PROVED DECIDED SUCCESS Overalls of various species, khaki trousers and khaki coveralls were in abundance among the men at the “overall” dance given by the Bemid- ji lodge, B. P. 0. E. No. 1052 last night at its temple. Only two ladies donned the overalls and . these two each received a box of chocolates to show the committee’s appreciation. Wash dresses and gingham frocks with aprons were the style for the evening among the ladies who looked very neat in them indeed.
