For this ‘Hennepin will get 72.5 miles of ‘hard-surface roads;-costing $2, 175,000. Hennepin county auto and truck owners will con- mh;ih ‘something’like eight million dollars towards, . [ hakd: surfaced roads in other ‘counties of ithe state. Ramsey and St. Louis counties will pay to the state-at:large ‘probably .a- larger- amount. ! Everyveity in the state will contribute ‘several ‘mil- {Jion dollars in addition, and all this is to be ex- pended on the country roads. The farming communities receiving the moat | direct benefit will not pay probably more than one- | fourth the cost of ‘the 7,000 miles of paved high- 'uyl, every rod of which will be outside the cities, which inll pay about aeventy -five pcr cent of the | expense. Jt:should also be remembered that by the adop- . 4ion of Amendment No. 1 Minnesota will receive several millions “from' the federal government, | wehich it will not get if the amendment is defeated. While the cost is heaviest on the cities, that get ! mone of ‘the ‘payed "highways, it will result in;a big saving to the men who put up the cash. 7. Take Hennepin county, for illustration.
