It OFFICIAL COUNTY AND CITY PROCEEDINGS HARRY OLIN DOESN'T NEED ANY COACHING. of In a dispatch sent out from Owatonna it stated that state High school agricultural instructors were meeting today to formulate a program for the coming year, and it also said that High schools have done little along this line, and the problems ahead, it further stated, are not believed to have been en- countered. 7" That seems rather strange to Bemidji. In the Bemidji High school and every grade school there is yearly marked activity on the part of the pupils, for Bemidji schools have a splendid farm on the edge of the city, that is fully equipped for farm purposes, cleared land, year round tenant, barns for stock and one of the, best pieces of .production land hereabouts, and everything is taught the pupils by personal work on assigned pllot?, while the youngsters have been taught how to raise even alfalfa. in charge of that department. He is a young man who is well}; schooled in what he is doing, with wide experience, and is also!| secretary of the County Fair association and active in other civic lines, and co-operates closely with farmers and county farm associations in many ways. Besides him, Belirami county has two agricultural agents under the state department. . Bemidji school children have won first prizes at the state fair for their cultivation of displays. They have won at the county fairs. They have won at other county fairs. It is a great department in the Bemidji public schools, and if any school superintendent or “ag” instructor isn’t certain in his own school he will be welcome to visit Bemidji’s school farm, and ebtain all necessary information from Mr. Olin, who has offices at the High school. —o WEST VIRGINIA AGAIN DEFEATS SUFFRAGE. The West Virginia senate<has again refused to pass the woman suffrage amendment and the action is considered final. The resolution for its adoption had met defeat the first time before the legislature and it was on reconsideration that it was again beaten. Governor Louis Hart of \Washington has called a special session of the state legislature to meet March 24, to consider the federal amendment, and at the same time provide funds for the state university, the state college and three normal schools. = The character development of the ik |baby is a matter of slow process.
