THURSDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 16, 1919 THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER PAGE SEVEN DELEGATES T0 STATE MEETING OF JEFFERSON SHOULD BOOST Federal Government to Give Clearwater $40,000 If the County Duplicates MORE PLATTING DONE IN RESIDENCE SECTION Work Progressing on Modern Residence in Highland Pafk Addition - (Special to Pioneer.) Clearbrook, Oct. 16.—Mr. and Mrs. N. Cluahamson, who sold their farm here a short time ago for $100 per acre, moved to Fosston, Saturday, where they will reside for the pres- ent. The man who purchased their farm moved in from Canada and took possession last week. Our delegates who attended the Jefferson Highway meeting at Little Falls, last week, report that our chance is good to land the federal designation for the Jefferson High- way. This is a most wonderful end to work for, and when landed the construction and maintainance of the same will not cost our county one cent for the future, besides it will be a highway worthy of the name and a pride to all concerned. With this view in sight our county commission- ers should not lose a minute, but im- mediately bond the county to the amount of $40,000 in order to draw the $40,000 federal aid set aside for us by the highway commission in our state, and now awaiting our favorable action. Let the slogan be, “Com- plete the Jefferson between Bagley and Clearbrook at once.” Simon Himle and family of Monte- video, this state, is here visiting with Erick and Christ Erickson, two brothers. 4 Peter Peterson had the county sur- veyor, Martin Kjolhang of Gonvick busy platting more lots to the ever growing town site of Clearbrook Sat- urday. This is a move in the right direction and we hope that Mr. Pe- terson will not quit until he has plat- ted the whole stretch clear south to ‘the road, which should be done with- out delay. This will insure him nail- ing the Jefferson Highway before it is constructed...west. . of his place, which would mean a big loss to him. It will now only be a short time until the building of the Babcock road sys- tem, hence it is up to Mr. Peterson to open up the whole of his holdings south of town, plat the same, and add it to the village as Peterson’s addi- tion. This will insure him reaping the hundreds of benefits which will be derived from a hard surfaced road under government supervision, while the lots will sell like hot cake, be- cause retiring farmers and dozens of .other people, who wish to take life easy, will move here, but they must have a place to move upon, therefore this is Mr. Peterson’s opportunity to get busy and be ready to reap the golden harvest waiting for him in the opening of this addition. It is now up to Mr. Peterson to act, or his op- portunity will be lost, as the city will and must swing in some other direc- tion if Mr. Peterson doesn’t grasp the opportunity at hand. Andrew Walle, our popular hard- ware dealer, made a hurried trip to the Twin Cities Saturday evening. Ole Aasen of Hatton, N. D., spent Sunday here visiting with friends. He made the trip in his new Eight Cadillac. Erick Rhen, the busy farmer from Sinclair, who once in a while helps out his friends with a mason’s job, is now busy putting in the tile for the modern residence which Oscar A. Nelson, manager of the Farmers’ Elevator, has under construction in the Highland Park addition. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Anderson visit- ed with their daughter, Arvilla, at Bemidji, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wennerstrom moved to Debs, Saturday, where they will make their home in the future. THE PIONEER WANT ADS BRING RESULTS NOTICE.
