™ Imporfant Dates In The Big Campaign '1G. C. Par] THE BEMIbJI DAILY PIONEER Hn Charles Van Morris o,.-u. 1101 Be- midji Ave. ..o Mrs. Tom Smrt. 612 Amer. ica Av-. The sun’s halos are good weather signs. Many weather proverbs based upon the observation of halos are founded upon sound scientific princl- ples. Studles of the relation of halos to. rainfall show that during the sum- _mer months 56 to 60 per cent of all ' 5,000 halos are followed by rain within 86 hours. During the winter months 70 to 75 per cent are so followed. Loom Up On Horizen Qandidates in Pioneer Campaign Have Opportunity for Killing Before Finale—Vital Period Has Now Arrived—To 4 Make Good Now Is to Enhance Possibility of Winning Handsome Touring Car Two big dates now stand promin- -eutly in the horizon of The Pioneer’s Circulation Campaign. October 11, and— November 1. On the former date the offer of 200,000 extra votes for every club of $26 will close. No inducement in the past has generated the unbounded enthusiasm that this offer has. It looms up mightily as the one big op- portunity to advance with a rush to the top. It is causing action of the sort that leaves no doubt but what it will set a .record never before equalled. Then comes the other date, Novem- ber 1—the end of the campaign. It’s going to be a memorable date in the history of Bemidji and vicinity, for many persons are going to be made happy—happier than ever they were before. ‘Reports continue to come to the . campaign office of unprecedented en- thusiasm on the part of outside . towns for their favorite candidates. - This keen rivalry promises a battle royal for votes ere the final day is - over. There’s a great element of pride in being able to say that So-an- 80, who won this or that prize, is “from our town.” And friends of the candidates are redoubling their ef- forts to make possible that assertion later on. That isn’t all, though. Bemidji candidates have thelir forces lined up, too. They in turn are proudly forg- ing ahead in a manner that recog- nizes no defeat. All of which adds greatly to the uncertainty of the out- come. As it stands, every candidate : has as good an opportunity as any - other. There are none who have made vic- tory a certainty, all rumors to the contrary notwithstanding. Remarks are apt to come to the ears of some ~ candidates, that certain other candi- - dates have a firm hold on the lead, or can't be beaten. Such statements are misleading, and emauate merely for the purpose of discouraging others, who would otherwise be dangerous competitors. To pass them by with- out attention, is to accord them their Just due. The fairness and equtibleness of The Pioneer’s campaign has, since it first commenced been its greatest as- set. The full realization of this is what led most of the candidates to enter the campaign, and their con- fidence is safely placed. District No. 1. This district includes all of the city of Bemidji.
