Bergh of Sugar Bush township attempted to kill a deer and was arrested by Game Warden Bailey last Saturday. He pleaded guilty. On Sunday, Morris Fyker and Rob- ert Gorman were at Robideau lake shooting ducks and coots, and War- den’ Bailey arrested them, also, and they entered pleas of guilty. Further arrests were made by Mr. Bailey, who caught William Morrell ‘and -George Blue Sky, both Indians, violating the game law at Wolfe lake, Sunday, and they were tried and fined at Cass Lake. There is no open season on elk, caribou, beaver, otter, shore birds (other than jacksnipes and yellow< legs) plover, prairie chicken, ‘sharp- tail ‘grouse, wood duck, harmless birds, swan, cranes, curlew and gre- bes. The duck season opens Septem- ber 16 and extends to December 31. St. Paul, Minn.,, Sept 1l.—More than two thousand logging camps in Minnesota are cutting about a billion and a half feet of pine every year, ace cording to a statement submitted to the elgislature by State Forester W. T. Cox. Far more than this amount of tim- ber is destroyed annually by fires, he said.
