M.-Swanson and family autoed to Thief River Wednesday and spent two days at the fair. ‘Walter Shoeberg took Mrs. Robert- son and three others to the fair at Thief 'River Falls Minday. E. Evans is expecting his son, Fay, who has arrived from France, after a year across with the A. E. F. berg's. parents, Mr. and Swedberg. Miss Kate Hines of Hines, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. B. N. Wentworth, returned to her home Thursday. . Mr. and Mrs. George Butler and tamily of Redby were week-end vis- itors- with Mr. Butler’s parents. They returned home Sunday evening. Miss Dorothy and Vivian remaining with.‘their grand parents for some time. A. S. Sadler left Monday for the Dakota harvest flelds. B. N. Wentworth, who has been visiting his parents at Blackduck, has returned home. M.. Walters, J. H. Locke, "A. P. Reeve and Byron Wentworth were business visitors in Bemidji Tuesday. Miss Jennie Lawrence arrived Thursday to visit Mrs. George Mc- Taggart at Mrs. McTaggart’s summer .home near Blackduck. M. W. Smith was called to the A. R. Dailey home Friday to attend their small son Milford, who is now Tecovering. E Ed. and Aaron Catheran of Hub- bard county left the last of the week for Perth, N. D., to thresh. Mrs. F. W. Lange called on Mrs. T. J. Wright Monday afternoon. Rev. and Mrs. 8. S. Kline made several calls in this community this week. Rob- inson, at Lavinia. D. A. Whiting made a business trip to Shovel Lake Friday. Frank Anderson of Bemidji has rented the Ross Anderson farm of E. Letcher and will take possession September 1. E. Letcher and family will move at once to Speoner, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Demming of Vanscoy, Canada, arrived here Fri- day, Mr. Demming going on to the Dakota harvest fields. They report a total failure of crops near Vanscoy on account of drouth. F. BE. Anderson took dinner with Mr .and Mrs. D. A. Whiting Sunday. On account of the recent heavy rains, haying is seriously handicaped in this locality, especially in the meadow dands. Mrs. C. Grover, who underwent an operation at‘Brainerd last week, is reported gaining, although her con- dition has been very serious. If mo complications set in she will be able to return to her home in about three ‘weeks. . County Agent Aamodt and wife were entertained at the H. L. Arnold home Sunday. John Bakke and Clarence Meland returned last Friday, August 1, from overseas, where they have been :in Uncle Sam'’s service. They were both in the Pioneer infantry and left for the camps a year ago. They both look good and are telling of the great work the Red Cross do for the boys over there, as both John and Clarence were taken sick and were in the hospital almost two months. So they were not in it when the fight- ing was at its height. We all wel- come them back. Thelner Kirkwood left last Mon- day for Edmore; N. D., where he is employed during threshing. Louie Larson has taken charge of Egtvet Coy’s farm, while they are gone to Austin to attend their fath- er's funeral. Iver Refsdal spent last Sunday at Jarntvold’s. Meland and Bakke young folks spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Paul Dromness of Pinewood. . A party was given at C. O. Hau- gen’s place last Monday in honor of John Bakke and Clarence Meland, who just returned from France. A big crowd attended. Louie Winger of Debs was seen in Aure last Monday.
