BUSINESS IS ENCOURAGING Lientenht Barker. Home on Fur- lough Enthusiastic Over Conditions. Lieutenant E. A, Barker, who ar- rived home the latter part of the week to spend a 15 day furlough, is enthusiastic concerning business con- ditions and is confident that the next year will mean prosperity for Bemidji and the country in general. “In the east business is booming, and it will continue so, and I find that conditions there are not the exception for the outlook here is most encouraging,”{. says Mr. Barker. The lieutenant is planning to return to Bemidji June 1, as he expects that he will receive his discnarge at that time, following a service of more than two years. He is in charge of the U. 8. 8. Sultana, and is now closing the accounts of the ship, it having been out of com- mission since February 16. Lieuten- ant Barker will return to New York, his headquarters, Sunday. Tomorrow meetings will be held at Rochester ‘and St. James.
