The object of these nurseries is to improve cereals for growth in Minnesota, either by careful gelection or by crossing desirable strains. The plant breeders at University Farm are at work now developing winter wheat which will be hardier than any now grown and will give a large yield. They are seeking also to develop stiff strawed strains of spring grains that will not lodge on rich land.
