When your kidneys hurt and your back feels sore, don’t get scared and proceed to load your stomach with & lot of drugs that excite the kidneys and irritate the entire urinary tract. Keep your kidneys clean like you keep your bowels clean, by flushing them with a mild, harmless salts which removes the body’s urinous waste and stimulates them to their normal activity. The function of the kidneys is to filter the blood. In 24 hours they strain from it 500 grains of acid and waste, so we can readily understand the viial imortance of keeping the kidneys active. Drinkl lots of water—you can't drink too much; also get from any pharmacist about four ouncés of Jad Salts; take a tablespoon in a glass of water before breakfast each morn- ing for a few days and your kidneys will act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate ciogged kidneys; also to neutralize the acids in urine so it no longer is a source of irrita. tion, thus ending bladder weakness. Jad Salts is inexpensive; cannot injure; makes a delightful efferves-| cent lithia-water drink which every- one should take now and then to keep their kidneys clean and active. Try this, also keep up the water drinking, and no doubt you will wonder what became of your kidney trouble and backache, THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER (] FRIDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 28, 1918 ; OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF OCITY COUNCIL, CITY OF BEMIDJII, MINN., NOV. 18, 1918, Special meeting of the city council called for at 8 o'clock p. m., for the purpose of considering matters pertain- ing to the improvement and extension of the water system. ! Ssiloan’s Liniment Kills Pain _HEALTH TALK SPANISH INFLUENZA OR GRIP : By Dr. Lee H. Smith. An old enemy is with us again, and whether we fight a German or a germ, we must put up a good fight, and not be afraid. The. influenza runs a veny brief course when the patient is careful, and if we keep the system .in good condition and throw off the poisons which tend "to ac- cumulate within our bodies, we can escape the disedse.” Remember these three C’s—a clean mouth, a._clean skin, and clean bowels. To carry off poisons from the system and keep the bowels loose, daily doses of a pleasant laxative should be taken. Such a one is made of May-apple, leaves of aloe, root of jalap, and called Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets. Hot lemonade should be used freely if attacked by a cold, and the pa- tient should be put to bed after a hot mustard foot-bath. fo prevent. the . attack of bron- cLitis or pneumonia 'and to' control the pain,, Anuric tablets should be obtained at the drug store, and one given every two hours, with lemon- ade. The Anuric tablets were first discovered by Dr. Plerce, and, as they flush the bladder and cleanse the kidaeys, they carry away much - of the poisons and the uric acid. 1t is jmportant that broths, milk, buttermilk, ice cream and simple dict be given regularly to strengthen tha system and increase the vital resistance. The fever is diminished by the nee of the Anuric tablets, but in addition, the forehead, arms and hands may be bathed - with water (tepid) in which a tablespoonful of | § salaratus _has been disszolved in a quart. After an attack of grip or pneumonia to build up and strength- en the system, obtain at the drug store a good iron tonic, called “Irentic” Tablets, or that well known herbal tonic, Dr. Plerce’s Golden Medical Discovery.
