GOOD CAUSE FOR OFPICIAL COUNTY AND CITY PROCEEDINGS DRASTIC ACTION. We are going to call attention to some individuals who happen to own a car, that one of these days there’s goipg to be one grand house cleaning on the part of citizens of outraged feelings by the insane stunt of said auto owners driving On|FGR"SATE Hotel, thoroughly mod- sidewalks in what seems like an attempt at smartness. One wouldn’t believe they were any the worse for liquor for a drunken man has too much sense and respect for himself to do even that. During the peace celebration, a yellow wheeled car ran upon a sidewalk, the vehicle being occupied by hair brained occupants and a mother was thoroughly frightened when she thought her children on the walk were about to be run down. This contemptible trick, not'the first one, is going to start some- thing one of these days and if someone gets all that’s coming to him there will be no one to of these imitations were being given a little attention. ——0 CHILDISH VAPORINGS FALL HARMLESSLY. Just as coal, when it burns, leaves bustible material in the form of ashes, so‘the food and drink taken day after day leaves in the alimentary canal a certain amount. of indigestible ma- terial, which. it not completely elim- inated from the system each day, be- comes ‘food for the millions othnc- rom and ptoimain-like poisons are formed and sucked into the blood. Men and women who can’t get feel- ing right must begin to take inside baths. Before eatng breakfast each morning drink a glass of real hot water with - a teaspoonful of lime. stone ‘phosphate in it to’ wash out of the thirty feet of bowels the previous day’s ‘accumulation' of ‘poisons and toxins and to keep: the entire alimen- tarycanal clean, pure-and fresh. Those who are subject:to sick head- ache, colds, bilivasness, comstipation, others who wake up-with bad taste, rheumatic thing to the effect that mighty armies could win victories but that nothing could withstand the moral uprising of a people. It was this belief coming true that caused the banishment of Napoleon from his autocratic beliefs and regime. So, too, in a political sense, people are wont to arise when they have become weary of an autocratic official and banish him to oblivion. But Napoleon, when he fell, did not show 'cheI white feather, like some individuals who, when they meet defeat, growl like a whipped pup and give vent to their spleen in a puerile manner, harmless and ineffectual in their purpose. -0 WHY NOT FLY THE AMERICAN FLAG? We are going to compliment the city of Bemidji. We are also going to compliment the “little fellows.” We are going to compliment all those who have the American flag flying at the present time when the German emperor surrendered and peace is in sight. It would seem as if the government could supply a flag for its new building in Bemidji, and to save the splendid flag owned by the county, which flies at intervals, a smaller and less expensive flag could be secured for the new pole erected in the court house ground. —0: As we seem to be reliably informed, a court commissioner must be a resident of the county seat, and the election of J. U. Williams from the northern end of the county bids fair to make him a resident of Bemidji. The statute specifies the residence of the commissioner, who acts in the capacity of judge during the absence of the court’s regular district judge, and Bemidji will be pleased to welcome Mr. Williams. 0 We note by dispatches where several dukes are being arrested and others “canned” from their former royal estates. There is an old saying that seems quite right at present and that is “in Europe they call ’em dukes and in America we call ’em tramps.” 0 And another one of the president’s highly specialized, hand-picked candidates, Henry Ford, was cleaned up in Mich- igan for the United States senatorship by Commander Truman Newberry. O Well, Congressman Knutson, republican, goes back to congress with a big majority. Wilson can’t “con” the voters of the Sixth Minnesota district. 0 “Made in Germany”’—war, ruin, desolation, cruelty, bes- tiality. No, thank you, after this we want nothing more with the “Made in Germany” label. 0. When the war business is settled, and it won’t be long now, Bemidji is going to hum and so is Beltrami county and the rest of Northern Minnesota. 0 The Austrian armistice was an excellent thing for what KEEP LODKING YOUNG RED CROSS NOTES STOP SURGICAL DRESSINGS. Orders have been received trom | headquarters to discontinue the mak-| ing of surgical dressings. What dress- ings are on hand, together with all material, will be properly packed and held here until further orders. All who have been helping with this work are asked to help now with the refugee work. The government has asked the workers to not quit their Red Cross work, but to keep right on. Help now with the work most needed, the hospital garments and refugee gar- ments, especially the latter. Let all who can do some of this work MID-WEEK PRAYER Now that the epidemic ban has been lifted, the wusual mid-week prayer meeting will be held in the Presbyterian church Thursday v\'('nriw ing, at 8 o’clock.
