PAGE FOUR SEND CHRISTMAS PRESENTS - TOSOLDIERS ABROAD NOW (By United Press.) Washington, Nov. 12.—Two hun- dred arcs, laden with 100,000 mail sacks of holiday cheer for American soldiers in France soon will speed eastward toward New York to be ehipped overseas in time for Christ- mas. Some of the malil already has ar- rived for shipment. The entire lot is expected at the embarkation port in the next ten days, allowing ample time for its arrival in France. Superintendents of the fifteen di- visions of the railway mail service completed plans for the transporta- tion of the Christmas gifts for sol- diers at a conference here, some “weeks ago. In New York the mail passes from the control of the postal authorities to those of the army and navy. Every member of the American ex- peditionary forces is permitted to receive one Christmas parcel. The parcels must be of uniform size, measuring 3x4x9 inchesy with weight not exceeding nine pounds. Every parcel should bear the name and address of the sender and be addressed in substance, as fol- lows: “Christmas Box Dept., Port of Emparkation, Hoboken, N. J. “For Private John Blank, “B Co., 3rd Field Artillery, “American Expeditionary Forces.” Senders may write any message of Christmas cheer on the outside of the parcel. Cartons of the size prescribed may be obtained at any Red Cross chapter. Christmas packages for members of the navy should be addressed as fol- lows: Name of addressee, in full, together with his rank or rating.
