LEONARD H. NORD Who served the 62nd district in the State Senate for the past tetm is of Norwegian parentage, settled in Min- nesota in 1885. He was a home- steader and colonizer in this section of the state for many years. Mr. Nord cruised over the larger portion of Beltrami and Koochiching counties, and covered practically ev- ery township in these counties. This valuable experience has given Mr. Nord -first hand knowledge of the meeds of this district, so that if he is elected to represent it in the state senate he will be better able to do so than one who has not had this experience. » His record in the Senate.during the last two sessions entitles him to elec- tion to this office. Bemidji's Normal School would not have been erected, but for Mr. Nord’s efforts in its behalf. e anti-injunction labor bill, in ,ch the laboring classes were in- .erested, passed because of his ef- forts. Other enactments which are credit- ed to Mr. Nord are the dynamite bill, criminal cyndicalism law, amend- ment No. 1, and all legislation which passed favoring Northern Minnesota. Voters will do well to réturn him for another term. An old enemy is with us again,; and whether we fight a German or a germ, we must put up a good fight, and not be afraid. The influenza runs a very brief course when the patient is careful, and if we keep the, system in good condition and throw/| off the poisons which, tend to ac-; cumulate within our bodies, we can escape the disease. Remember thes three ('s—a clean mouth, a clean skin, and clean bowels. To carry off poisons from the system and keep the bowels loose, daily doses of a pleasant laxative should be taken. Such a one is made of May-apple, leaves of aloe, root of jalap, and called Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets. Hot lemonade should be used freely if attacked by a cold, and the pa-| iient should be put to bed after a; hot mustard foot-bath. E To prevent the attack of bron- chitis or pneumonia and to control the pain, Anuric tablets should be obtained at the drug store, and one given every two hours, with lemon- ide. The Anuric tablets- were first| discovered by Dr. Pierce, and, as| chey flush the bladder and cleanse the | kidneys, they carry -away much of/ the poisons and the uric acid. 1t is important that broths, milk, buttermilk, ice cream and simplci dict be given regularly to strengthen | the system and increase the vital resistance. The fever is diminished by the use of the Anuric tablets, but in addition, the forehead, arms and hands may be bathed with water (tepid) in which a tablespoonful of salaratus has been digsolved in a quart.
