AT A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL of the-City of Bemidji, held the 3rd day of -April, 1918, being an adjourned meeting of April 1, 1918, in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City -at 8 o'clock P. M., Alderman B;\gley offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: ‘WHEREAS, a bond issue for $25.- 000.00 has been voted, designated, BRIDGE BONDS, advertised for sale and bids received for the purchase of same. Each and all said bids demand therein a discount on the principal -and interest of the bonds, which feature in such bids, if any bid should be accepted, would render, under the law, the sale of said bonds illegal, for that reason it has been .necessary for the common council to reject all such bids: and WHEREAS, It is very necessary to the City of Bemidji that the money on said bonds be realized and placed in the treasury. That under the law a’broker can be employed. to sell said bonds and a commission paid him, by the city, for his services without rendering the issue illegal. That no further delay should be permitted before placing the bonds in the hands of some broker or person who can and will, for a reasonable com- mission, sell the same for the city and place the proceeds thereof in the treas- ury: and WHEREAS, Mr. R. H. Schumaker has offered to act as broker for the City of Bemidji and perform such services, take over and sell said bond issue at par, and accrued interest to date of sale and place in the treasury the entire proceeds of such sale, for and in consideration, that he be paid, by the city, in cash, a commission of $1,660.00. Said Schu- maker to pay for lithographing and printing the blank bonds, for legal ad- vice and services and all other expenses incident to the sale of said bonds. BE 1T THEREFORE RESOLVED, That the offer of Mr. R.'H. Schumaker be accepted, that he be and hereby is engaged as a broker of, for and in be- half, of the City of .Bemidji, to take over and sell said bonds.
