A number of the farmers in this vicinity are donating cordwood to be shipped to Bemidji where it will be auctioned off and given to the Red Cross. Everyone is giving freely and it is hoped to ship a couple of cars. The names of the donors will be given next week. The town board held an extra meeting in the town hall Saturday. Ray McKnight returned Saturday from Bemidji where he had been for a few days. Miss J. Bye was an over-Sunday guest with her sister, Miss Bye, nurse at the sanatorium. Rev. The sympathy of the entire com- munity is felt for Mrs. Shoop and her son, Myron, in their recent loss of home and contents on Friday. A considerable sum of money in bills was also burned. Dr. Koch was summoned from Blackduck to dress the wounds of Mrs. Shoop, who was quite badly burned in the upper part of her body. She was taken to Blackduck by Dr. Koch and some of her neighbors. Her friends wish for her a speedy recovery. An interesting program was given at the Literary society Friday eve- inng at the Winan school. Refresh- ments were served. Johnson, our for- mer merchant here. The land will be used for a small sawmill site. The mill will be in operation the. first part of April and lots of logs are be- ing hauled to this place to be sawed. The' farmers are stilling hauling in logs. The site is located just a short distance from the depot and will come in very handy for shipping out lumber as it is just a few rods to haul it to the track. Alvin Callahan came down from ¥]Little Fork last Saturday night to visit with friends. A Red Cross social was held here last Thursday evening. About $24 was taken "in by those in charge.
