On every hand the project is being received with enthusiasm and it 1s deserving of the heartiest support. It means that-the Bemidji band which has given o freely of its services, desires to appear.as. they should when, in public. - Their uniforms have done yeoman service and are becom- ingmnsightly. Bemidji should by all means rally to the:suppert of the band of whieh ‘Bemidji should be justly proud. The band boys feel their position in this matter and. Bemidji should not feel compelled to apologize nor offer any excuses if the band that repre- sents them does not make a presentable appearance. A good band is one of the best advertisements a city can possibly have and Bemidji should ‘have one of the best in the state. She can do it. Leader Peterson s working hard to bring. the band up to - what:it should be to represent Bemidji properly, and in this is entitled to th heartiest co-operation. Your presence at the band concert would be appreciated. It is authoratively asserted that the Bureau of Pwhllc In- - formation at 'Washington, whatever it is, has spent over $1,250,000 of “tfie “pitriotic: people’s money, money they dug: deeply for in the Liberty Loans, for the purpose of aiding the government in winning the war. It is reasonable to presume that the Creel bureau of pen artists and adver- tisers will again get into the people's pockets for another chunk of a million, and then some,; which will, no® doubt knock a’ big dent in the kaiser and the German empire. But it seems as if Garfield possessed some of the same ideas that some others posessed, and which have been brought to light by the legislative investigating committees.
