MARSH TONIGHT MAE A story of peculiar interest to ani- mal lovers is the new Goldwyn pic- ture, “Sunshine Alley”, starring Mae Marsh to be shown at the Rex theatre tonight. Nell Harbost, so the story goes, is T"‘e smoke the granddaughter of an old man Smolm True who keeps a bird and animal shop in a poor quarter of a great city. Her C’lcws True greatest pride is in a beautiful bull- finch, and for that reason her grand- father refuses to sell the bird when a munificent offer is made for it by Morris, a millionaire. Morris makes the offer largely because his auto- mobile has injured the old man and he wants to make him some compen- sation. When Nell learns this, and realizes that they have not money enough to pay for doctor and medicines, she calls Ned Morris, the handsome young son of the millionaire, and tells him he may have the bird at the price offered. The sale is made; but when the bird is brought to the Mor- ris mansion it refuses to sing. There- upon Nell goes to the mansion, too, to restore its voice. She is wel- comed by Ned, who has fallen in love with her. In the meantime, Nell's brother, Carlo, persuaded by an evil compan- fon that Morris has wronged his grandfather in not making real com- pensation, goes to the Morris home to rob it. He starts a burglar alarm while taking the jewels of Mrs. Mor- ris, and Nell hides him. When he eventually escapes with the jewels, Nell follows to recover them only to be suspected of the crime.
