Jen- nings and two of his sons. Mr. De- mars is constable of this place and went to the Jennings place to serve an order on the latter, restraining him from removing hay from an- other man’s place. Whereupon he was set upon by Jennings and his two sons, who beat him with a club until he is in an awful condition. He managed to get to the resi- dence of Mrs. R. Farrar, who is an experienced nurse, who, with the aid of her daughter, Mrs. Kucken, dress- ed his wounds and got the blood, in some measure, washed away after which he fainted, probably from loss of blood. Public feeling is at fever heat over the matter and is liable to result in summary action on the part of the settlers, as Jennings and his oldest son have not conducted themselves in the most exemplary manner for some time. * Christmas entertainment on Friday evening of this week.
