Geier came to Bemidji last winter as the first paid secre- tary of the Commercial club, he came to Bemidji with as high recommen- dations from Des Moines, Iowa, as any young man could wish for. Since he came to Bemidji he has been a valuable asset to the city and a hard and conscientious worker for the Commercial club and its activities. He hes made a host of friends among the business men and social circles and is counted as one of Bemidji’s young men of sterling worth. _ The call of the nation was heard by Secretary Geler and he answered 'y presenting himself for examination for the officers’ reserve training camp and passed with credit in every detail. He is to leave Bemidji soon to begin his work for his country as a soldier. : A THIRD s'r. This time it is a cereal story, relating to canned peas. Creel spread-broadcast the news that the government had ordered its needs for the army and navy in canned peas at ‘‘materially under the prevailing market,” thus indicating that “we are on the job.” The grocery trade learns that no order for peas has yet been given, that no price has been set, and that all there was to the story was the issuance of the terms and conditions of the proposed trad- ing. In short, Creel could not distinguish between the conditions of a proposed bid and a formal award. Come again, George! Gleaniiness fls Next to Godliness 80 for God’s sake keep clean.
