W. It is so dead it needs a disinfectant to get near its putrid cohorts. The large majority of the people of Bel- trami county don’t propose for a minute to stand for any more of that old rotten game of dirty booze politics than they propose to sign a treaty with a rattlesnake. And at that the rattlesnake is a gentleman compared t0 some of that outfit which arrogates to itself the. political pull and prestige which they claim allows it to run at large. Why, a rattlesnake even gives warning before an attack but the gumshoe brigade such as sneaks around, using the cloaks of any hue to suit the occasion would not only steal the pennies from from a dead man’s eyes but would kick the corpse because the penmnies weren’t $10 gold -pleces. Ask the Supreme court to apolo- gize, you who seem to be laboring under the impression that the majority ©f the people of Beltrami county are going to accept the mandates of a tew who believe they are all powerful and that no one dare to opem their |3 mouth ‘in -giving -woice to their opinioms. The man who made the kick was a saloon keeper who, together with others, had been ordered to close their places at 10 instead of 11 o’clock at night as a war precaution for the public safety. This patriotic booze vendor couldn’t for the life of him see any sense in the Public Safety Commission’s action, but he knowp now for the United States court told him. When Beltrami was declared wet there was a horde than ran their ankles hot getting up Baudette and Spooner way and a lot of ‘clubs” sprung into being and flourished like a green bay tree. And take it from the public the booze emporiums went the limit and then some. Some of them couldn’t even stop at illegal booze selling. That political pull that has been so long flaunted around here is just about ready to fray out. The people of this vicinity and Beltrami county are going to see to it that a lot of this old time bunk is cut out and they don’t recognize any political crumb grabber in the program as outlined, either.
