NN LTI T TN Are Composers Short Lived? 2 Many great musicians were afflicted with physical infirmities. Mozart, who lived to the age of only thirty-five, died of consumption. Schumann, who died at the age of forty-six, was for some years before his death confined in an asylum. Beethoven reached the age of fifty-seven, but for many years previous to his death was quite deaf. Mendelssohn died at the age of thirty- six, Schubert at thirty-one, Weber at forty, Chopin at forty, Purcell at thir- ty-seven and Bellini at thirty-three. There are, of course, 8 few exceptions. Bach, Haydn and Handel all outlived their threescore years and ten. The latter, however, was for some years totally blind. Heat From the Moon, The moon is made of material sup- posed to be of stone since its specific gravity is about that of the rocks with- in reach here on earth. It reflects the light it receives from the sun to the earth, but in greatly weakened propor- tion. Therefore this light will affect plants in the same ratio. The effect is very small indeed. Heat energy sent from the sun to the moon is very nearly the same as that radiated to the earth, but the quantity sent from the moon to the earth is so small that it i3 negligible. AD BRINGS RESULTS Nels Bye of Solway walked to Be- midji Saturday, a distance of 15 miles.
