Joliet, IIL.—The 110 convicts in the state prison here were notified they bad received paroles. Most noteworthy among them is James E. Daley, who was sentenced for the murder of his wife in 1905. Recently Daley was given a commutation of life sentence to twenty-five years by Governor Dunne. Most of the convicts will be employed by the farmers in Cook county. De- mand for farm laborers resulted in the parvle board granting many paroles that otherwise would not have been ob- tained. as the men were without friends to ohtain signers to release | papers. FREGKLE-FACE Sun and Wind Bring Out Ugly Spots. ~How to Remove Easily. Here's a chance, Miss Freckle-face, to try a remedy for freckles with the guarantee of a reliable dealer that it will not cost you a penny unless it removes the freckles; while if-it does give you a clear complexion the ex- pense is trifling. Simply get an ounce of othine— double strength—from any druggist and a few applications should show you how easy ‘it is to rid yourself of the homely freckles and get a beau- tiful complexion. Rarely is more than one ounce needed for the worst case. Be sure to ask the druggist for the double strength othine as this is the prescription sold under guarantee of money back if it fails to remove freckles.—Adv. Primitive View of the Bullfrog. The frogs in America, it must here be observed. make a most singular noise, some of them being absolutely whistling, while others croak so loud- Iy that it is difficult at times to tell whether the sound procee(}s from a calf or a frog. I bave more than once been deceived by the noise when walk- called bullfrogs. They mostly keep in palrs and are never found but where there is good water. Their bodies are from four to seven inches long, and their legs are in proportion. They are extremely active and take prodigious leaps.—From an Old Book of Travels. ‘J ing in a meadow. These last frogs are Protecting Tree Wounds. No covering of a tree wound will in anywise hasten the healing process or heip form a callus. Its sole office is -«ne of protection from decay, in- sects, ete., while the stub is gradually being -covered by new growth. Dress- ings should be reapplied whenever the wood becomes exposed to keep out in- fection until entirely calloused over, for if decay or other germs, or in- sects once get a lodgment, even if the wound entirely heuals over, the infec- tion may work until the tree dies or becomes hollow. The callus is formed by the cambium tissue or inner bark that lies between bark and wood. The old wood itself takes no part in'the healing process, but on the contrary dies and is therefore a fmenace to the life of thé tree. So cut branches as to | leave no stub and then use white lead, red lead, oil, grafting wax, creosote, tar, asphalt or any material which completely covers and excludes air and water. 1Corns Peel Right Off With “Gels-It” 8 Drops, and the Carn is & “Goner!” ‘When you've got to walk on the sides of your shoe to get away from those awful corn-pains, there’'s only one common-sense thing to do. Use “Gets-1t;” Your Corns Won’t Swell in Water. Besides, They’'ll Shrivel, Loosen and Peel Off! Put 2 or 3 drops of “Gets-It” on the corn right away. Pain and inflam- mation will disappear, the corn will begin to shrivel from that instant— then it loosens and falls right off. There’s no other corn-remover in the world that acts like “Gets-It.” No new discovery has been made in corn-removers since “Gets-It” was born. Don’t forget that fact. “Gets- It” does away forever with the use of salves that irritate, bandages that make a bundle of your toe, plasters that half do the work, knives and scissors that draw blood. Use “Gets- t”"—no more digging or cutting. n““gets-lt" l: sold ev:n'moktlere. 260 |; le, or sent on rece! j 73 & Co..
