I ¥ Personals and Newsy Notes Mrs. Frank McManus went to Grand Forks this afternoon where she will visit her daughter, Mrs. G. A. MeDonald, and family until the latter part of the week. Her grand- daughter, Marion McDonald of Grand Forks, who has been a guest at the McManus home for the past two ‘weeks, returned. to her home with her grandmother. Mrs. Hans Mittet ‘and daughter, Margaret, went to Thief River Falls today where they will visit Mrs. Mit- tet’s mother, Mrs. O. S. Berglund, and other relatives for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Mittet have rented one of the Aubolee cottages at Grand Forks Bay and will move there when .. Mrs. Mittet and daughter return .. from their visit. Harold Schmitt, who has been the est of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Schmitt of Dewey av- enue, during the week-end, returned to Thief River Falls this morning. Peterson of ‘Winona were called to Bemidji yes- terday by the ilness of their son, 'heodore Peterson, who is confined at St. Anthony’s hospiial, following an operation for apnendicitis. ' At Wells they were the guests of relatives. Mrs. THarold Hill of Bagley, who had been visiting friends in Clear- brook, was in the city Saturday en- route to her home. Mrs. Hill, accom- panied by Mrs. Mong Daniel, motor- ed to Bagley in the evening. Glenn Conger was the guest of friends in the Twin Cities over Sun- day. He will spend the summer on J. R. Minor’s farm, after which he will go on his own farm. Mr. Minor is Mr. Conger’s uncle. Leslie Slater will return this eve- ning from Valpariso, Ind. He ex- pects to enlist in the auxiliary of the coast defense, and has spent the past two days in Minneapolis on business matters. Mr. and Mrs. Ira J. Cool and daughter, Gladys Mary, will move out to the lake this week. Mrs. Cool and daughter have recently returned from g visit with relatives in Chi- cago. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Easton and Miss Margaret Easton, and Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Webster of Cass Lake spent Saturday in the city on business, making the trip by automobile. William Kinnon of Minneapolis, district deputy of the M. B. A,, came to Bemidji Saturday evening and will spend a short time in the city in the interest of the lodge. Mrs. F. W. Adams and Miss Cora Adams of Laporte autoed to Bemidji Saturday and spent the day shop- ping. While in the city they were the guests of friends. William Chichester returned yes- terday morning from Minneapolis where he had spent the past several days in the interest of the Birch- mont Beach company. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Speelman of International Falls will return to their home this evening after visit- ing at the G. E. Carson home yes- terday and today. Thomas Nygaard of Blackduck, who has bought the Ed Akre grocery store, has moved his family to the Fifth ward and taken possession of the store. Miss Jennie Newton of Minneap- olis arrived in the city Saturday eve- ning and is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Newton, of Mississippi avenue. Neal Witting of Blackduck spent Sunday in the city, the guest of his mother, Mrs. A. E.
