RL, the new washing compound, helps to make housework easier, and still does not harm your hands. You have used a piece of lemon for cleaning in the kitchen and for taking stains off your hands. You have used cocoanut oil both as a soap and as a skin food. RL, containing these two products, is the cleansing, non-irritant washing powder you have always wanted. RL performs the functions of toilet and laundry soaps and washing powder in one. DISPLAY THE NATIONAL COLORS How many American flags are floating to the breeze in Bemidji? There should be more. They should be shown in ‘every home. They should float from every building. They should be in evidence everywhere. It is not seemly that we go about the streets shouting our Americanism into every ear, but it is proper and right that we show our own colors by displaying the national colors. “Recently patented garters for men include pockets for carrying money,” says a news item. And, prespmably, when a fellow wants to treat his best girl he will have to undress before he can reach his wad. RL brightens glassware, china and silver—removes grease and grime Not for us! St. Patrick banished the snakes from Ireland and was canonized. Nicholas banished the “snakes” from Russia and was ostracized. Some- thing wrong somewhere. With Long Island cucumbers selling at $3 a thousand it is cheaper for the natives to get pickled than it is to eat pickles. “War is hell,” as Sherman said, but now that we are into it we must do our best to make it hell for the other fellow. " Women'’s minds, like railroad schedules, movie programs, styles and prices, are subject to change without notice. If the milk of human kindness sold by the quart we’'d buy a lot for some folks we know in Bemidji. Your conscience, brother, will tell you when yoix are doing wrons—l provided you have a conscience. Eggs are coming down again—and, therefore, they are going down again. Any galoot can tell you how to manage a wife, but darn few can do it. Easter was a beautiful day in Bemidji and they all had ’em on. Splash! We’re in it at last. MY FELLOW CITIZENS As my patriotism has been chal- lenged by some narrow-minded citi- zens, I take this means of informing a few misinformed citizens of Be- midji as to the stand I have taken in the war situation. I am now and always have tried to be a fair-minded American. I have in the past taken the German side, as 1 would have taken the side of a ball team to win. We should stand up for our rights in this world against all monarchies, irrespective of any financial interests. Both par- ties in this horrible war have broken the international law by sinking our ships with mines and submarines. ‘We should not ally ourselves with any nation, but defend our country and our homes against all the world. 1 appeal to all broad minded citizens for judgment. Yours truly, W. B. M’'LACHLAN. NEW BEMIDJI SLEEPER No more will the Bemidji people and others hither bound from St. Paul on the M. & 1. at night have to use one of those indescribable “‘sleep- ers” for the road has placed in ser- vice an honest to goodness drawing room sleeper, which will be known as the Bemidyn Sleeper. It has four- teen sections and is of the latest type. : ESTIHAT:¥ ™ (REWS COMPLETE FIGURING UP TIMBER The esumating crews at the Red Lake reservation have finished esti- mating .ae timber south of the Red Lakes.
