SUFFRAGE WORKER T0 ATTEND MEETING AT NATIONAL CAPITOL The latter part of this month, Mrs. Charles F. Moller, congressional chairman of the Minnesota Equal Suffrage association, will go o Wash- ington to attend a meeting of the Na- tional association to discuss and take action on the present situation con: cerning the United States and Ger- many. In speaking of the suffrage move- ment in Minnesota, Mrs. Moller in an interview with the Pioneer said: “We are not working for the con- stitutional amendment for woman suffrage in this state. The right to vote for president and vice president can be granted by the state legisla- ture and this bill is the one we are working for.” Mrs. Moller went on to say that a constitutional amendment would have to be submitted to the voters at the next election and and would re- quire a majority of all votes cast to secure its passage. Those not voting for or against the amendment is counted as a vote against. This makes it next to impossible to pass an amendment which has any organized opposition. “We feel that to do the cause justice we want to do more education- al work in the state before submitting an amendment to the voters.” Mrs. Moller says that there is a strong suffrage sentiment in Beltrami county. -A great many of the leading men of the city are writing Senator now and Representative Pendergast asking them to support the presiden- tial bill in the legislature.” FAMOUS BOSTONIANS T0 APPEAR HERE TWO NIGHTS The famous Bostonians, widely known musical comedy company, which is a great favorite in Bemidji and which appeared here last sea- son, will be in Bemidji February 27 and 28 on its annual tour and will show at the Grand theater.
