EVER SO OFTEN a man must stop and take an inventory of what he is worth or not worth, if he is honest he finds many weak places—does he pass them by or try to correct them and find a remedy? Does it occur to us that as we take stock of OUR CITY, its affairs and all, that there are many weak places that have been allowed to run on and on for years, would we do well to find a remedy to correct them and to this end, if elected, I pledge myself to use every effort, thus: 1st. TO GET FOR EVERY DOL- LAR spent by the city of Bemidji, one hundred cents, FULL VALUE, BE IT LABOR, CONTRACTS OR ‘WHAT NOT. We can ask, have we always had it in the past. 2nd. TAXES—High taxes have become a burden to rich and poor alike. There must be some remedy found whereby a more economical administration of city officers can be effected, to cut needless waste, to cut needless improvements, to care for what improvements we now have, but not to spend any more for new improvements until we are at least on a cash basis, and until some of our present indebtedness 1is cut down. 3rd. TO SAVE MONEY every year and to set aside, or in some manner provide money towards a new city hall, large enough and good enough, and one that would be a credit to the city such as ours. We need it for conventions, for business or for farmers' meetings, etc. Our present city hall is a disgrace to our city. Give us less paving, if neces- sary, but do give us a new city hall. Care for the indoors as well as the outdoors. Our city should be a con- vention city, and if so, we must have a place to entertain conventions. 4th. Permanent public bath houses provided for ladies, men and the kiddies, with proper attendants. It is only a waste of money to make temporary ones, which are destroyed every year. Same could be said of winter sports—permanent warming houses, etc. A good many other matters could be touched, on but this is enough of a platform to stand on; more can be added later, and as I had no plat- form, one had to be made. Please understand, I do not claim to be any “cure all,” or that I can do all or any of these, except in that I can persistently talk and urge and agi- tate them, until public opinion will bring pressure to bear and same is passed by our council. If elected to this office, all this I promise to do, manicuring,- face massage, treatment for sore feet. Headquarters for Melba preparations. Make your ap- pointments early.
