" GENERAL OFFICES ©NEW YORK AND CHICAGO EFANCHES IN ALL THE PRINCIPAL CITIEY BOOST THE TREE. We're for that municipal Christ- mas tree and we're for it strong. And we want eveyone else to feel the same way. In Bemidji, same as in many other cities, there are many deserving poor children to whom Santa is a myth, so far as the be-whiskered old chap and his pack are concerned, likewise the tree, and it is for these, yes, and all the other youngsters to whom the coming of Santa is being eagerly watched. And while we’re about it, might we mnot confess that piost of us grownups are also looking for Santa. That’s just exactly it—the muni- cipal tree—for those to whom Christ- mas means little compared with oth- ers more fortunate. 1t is for the little oned the muni- cipal tree is projected, to instill in them the meaning of Christmas and the sipirit of its observance and by so doing make for better men and wo- men and a bigger, better, more beau- tiful Bemidji. Won’t YOU help? ° NAME THE SGHOOLS. © .| Why is it that Bemidji has no names for its different school build- ings—names that stand for some- thing, mean something? - Don’t you think it i9 a little strange that the school buildings are not really named —names as used now just sort of happened. In practically every other city schools are designated in honor of prominent personages, some of na- tional repute and others of local fame —pioneers and persons who have done things for both city and edu- cation. Why not have the schools of Be- midji appropriately named? —_—. THE REFORMER. i v B There are two Kinds of reformers E . —those who utter words and those i who do deeds. The first endeavors to set one class over against the i ‘ 4 other; he rants and shrieks at “busi- ness”; he claims—for the sake of his| |, % : own political preferment and private gain—that the man who has saved /) up a dollar is, by reason of that fact, o, a crook and an unjailed criminal. The other is the real reformer— he is pretty apt to be one of those e . beings, anathema to the demagogue, a successful business man. 3 S % Fower ‘fli LIBRARY COR. . Flowers timent. Select flowers There's one thing about the pro- posed costumes of the Bemidji ladies to be worn in the parade at the St. Paul winter sports carnival and that is the skirts won't be of the sil- houette variety.
