When the outdoor sports carnical t S$t. Paul opens on January 27 for a seven-day pageant, more winter gports, championship events and cold weather romps will be started than were ever before held within the confines of a single municipality. Skating, sxiing, hockey contests, in- ternational curling games and tobog- anning will form the pricipal events on the program. Over 30,000 persons are listed to |14, Total itx several hundred towns, it has just been selected by a special committee for a community health demonstra- tion that will seek to show that tu- berculosis can be controlled as well as other infectlous diseases, if the right methods are employed. The tund for conducting the demonstration has been donated to the National Associa- tion by the Metropolitan Lite Insur- ance company. The c¢ity has agreed to co-operate by improving its public health work and by offering certain special fa- cilities for work under the direction of the committee. The leading citi- zens of Framingham, as well as the state department of health, Harvard university, the Massachusetts In tute of Technology and other schools have offered their help in the dem- onstration. As part of the plan, it is proposed to place under definite control every living case of tuber- culosis, both those that are demon- strably so and those that are sus- pected of having had contact with the disease. As a result ur this demonstration, it is planned later to use the experi- ence in Framingham in other cities of the United States, to show that tuberculosis can be controlled any- where.
