CASH LOCAL MERCHANTS T0 FEATURE CONTESTS| Dealers Take Part in $3,000 Ever Ready Search Light Contest. Three thousand dollars for a sin- gle word is the unusual offer made by a manufacturer who is looking for a new name. As evgrybody knows, there are many trade marks that are worth millions. One manu- facturer refused ten million dollars for his trade mark. The offer of $3,- 000 is being made by the American Ever Ready Works, the well known manufacturers of “Eveready” flash- lights. The word they wgnt to re- place is “Flashlight.” These por- table electric lamps, so extensively used at night, have been on the market for twenty years. When they were first made they merely flashed instead of giving a continu- ous light. Hence the name “Flash- light” was created. The manufacturers now say that the word is out of date, and they must have a new word which will better .represent the service of the present Evereadys. To give everyone, young and old, in this city an opportunity to try for this $3,000 prize, contest blanks will be. distributed by well known local dealers. The contest runs from: Oc- tober ‘7 to November 7, and many lo- cal dealers are distributing them now. The week .of October 7: to 14 is known as the annual “Eveready Big Drive,” during which leading : deal- ers all over the country make strik- ing and beautiful window displays. The following business ‘houses in this city are deeply interested in this contest and will make window dis- plays and distribute contest blanks beginning October 7: Bemidji Hardware Co.
