Sunday evening a number of the members of the G. A. R. Circle and other friends and neighbors of Mrs. J. M. Fuller tendered her a pleasant surprise, 'the occasion being her sev- enty-sixth birth anniversary. The evening was spent in having a social time, after which lunch was served. The guests presented Mrs. Fuller with a gift as a remembrance of the occasion. Those present were Messrs. and Mesdames G. P. Irish, L. Irish, Will Gray, E. W. Hannah, 8. A. Nie- tert, Rube Miller, Eastwood, A. A. Carter, Martin, and Mesdames G. M. Carson, Spain, Case and Kelsey of Federal Dam, and Misses Eva and Laura Carson of Texas, and Messrs. Roy Carter, I. W. Robertson and Larry Miller. Mr. and Mrs. John Cronemiller, who own a farm in the town of Northern, left this morning for their home in Chicago, having been called there by the illness of Mrs. Crone- miller’s father. Mrs. Cronemiller spends the summer on the farm in the town of Northern and the win- ters in Chicago and Mr. Cronemiller, who is a railroad man, being em- ployed between Chicago and Omaha, spends his vacations on the farm. ‘While in Bemidji yesterday they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Con- ger. Mrs. D. R. Burgess and son, Jack, left this morning for Minneapolis, enroute to Chicago. Mrs. J. Bisiar, Mrs. Burgess’ mother, will accompany them as far as Minneapolis, where they will visit until Saturday. Mrs. Burgess will then join her husband in Chicago where they will make their winter home. Mr. Burgess is attending the McKillips Veterinary college. Mrs. J. J. Conger, 901 Lake Boule- vard, has as her guest Miss Mildred McGriff, a graduate nurse of Chi- cago. Miss McGriff was Mrs. Con- ger’s special nurse when she was re- ceiving treatment in a Chicago hos- pital three years ago. This is Miss McGriff’s second visit in Bemidji, having visited here two years ago. Miss Lena Homme of Erie, Minn., who is a teacher in the Pine River schools, was in the city yesterday, enroute to her home, where she will visit her parents for a short time before they move to Canada. While in the city she was the guest of Mr. end Mrs, Hans Mittet. Mrs. W. L. Davies of Crookston and Mrs. Helen L. Cole of Los An- geles, Cal., mother and aunt of Mrs. E. H. Marcum, respectively, arrived in the city this morning and will be guests at the Marcum home for some time before leaving for Chicago. The Presbyterian Ladies’ Aid so- ciety will hold its regular meeting in the church basement Thursday af- ternoon at 2:30 p. m.
