Leroy Sampson of Wilton returned yesterday from London Mills, IIl., where he was called by the death of his brother. Mr. and Mrs. Sampson had just returned from a visit at London Mills and received the tele- = gram upon their arrival in Bemidji. Edwin J. Simons, who has been employed at the Pioneer office for several years, resigned Saturday and left for Grand Forks, N. D., where he will enter the state university. He will be employed on the Grand Forks Herald after school hours. Harold Hayner, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Hayner, left Sunday night for the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis where he will resume his studies in mechanical engineering. Mr. Hayner is a 1914 Bemidji high school graduate. Rev. W. E. Erickson of Mclntosh conducted confirmation services at Shotley Sunday, there being a class of eight. Rev. Erickson visited in Be- midji yesterday as the guest of Rev. J. H.
